BADMINTON

In this unit students will be exposed to all the rules of singles and doubles badminton.  They will learn court lines, rules of the game, defensive and offensive strategies, serving strategies, and how scoring and rotation work.  During this unit students will have a partner and play a tournament to decide classroom champions.

What you will learn and need to know about badminton in Physical Education class:

*One contact per side

*Lines are good

*Overhand and underhand clear shots are defensive shots

*Smash and drop shots are offensive shots

*Need to win by two points

*Serves must go diagonal and passed the first yellow line

*You may only score a point while your team is serving

*Each person on a team will get to serve until they lose their point except in the first inning where only one person on that team will serve

*If the shuttlecock hits anybody in the body it is a dead point (does not count).
