Middle school is a vital transitional period. Students build on the basics they learned in elementary school and prepare them to begin making choices in high school. Middle school students are provided with a variety of physical activity experiences so they may discover which activities they most enjoy (and would most likely continue to participate in as adults).

What students will learn:

In this physical education class, students will have the opportunity to participate and learn about a variety of physical activities. Students learn the rules, etiquette, strategies, tactics and skills related to that activity necessary for successful participation in each activity and sport. Students will have many opportunities to show how to use these skills and tactics in combination, in small-sided, some full-sided games and tournament play.

We will be working on health related physical fitness throuhout the year. (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition). Students in Grades 7 and 8 will keep a workout log.

Fitness testing begins to shift from teacher assessment to self assessment.
